Mumford & Sons concert / by Ron Olds

This week I had the opportunity to shoot Mumford & Sons at Promowest Pavilion in Columbus Ohio. This was my first sold out show. You can definitely feel power of the 10,000 fans at your back while you try to concentrate on getting the best shots you can. The concert was original scheduled for the outdoor amphitheater but quickly sold out. Promowest rescheduled the event for their festival setting. This allowed them to double the number of tickets that they could sell. Overall the rarely used festival setting seemed to work out well. If they plan on using this layout in the future they should consider leveling the parking lot used for the main stage. The current parking lot has a concave surface leaving the fans in the middle of venue with a wonderful view of the 4 foot tall person infront of them. Promowest did provide two huge screens to help combat this issue. It seemed as though 6,000 of the fans were watching the stage and the other 4,000 were watching the large screens.

This was my first time seeing Mumford & Sons live. I will be sure to see them when they tour with their new album BABEL that is scheduled for release on September 25, 2012. A few of my photos from this show were featured on Midwest Photo Exchange's blog
